Grace Gimpel (she/her) is an Art Therapist who received her Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2024. She is a multi-disciplinary artist with extensive and varied experience in the performing and visual arts.
Her work as an art therapist is existential and informed by a climate justice framework. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, somatics, trauma-informed, and person-centered therapy. She thrives on helping people find their meaning outside of oppressive social systems and navigate this unique human experience. Talking with her has been compared to a night catching up with an old friend paired with a warm and comforting stew.
She uses art in therapy as a way to meditate, communicate, and encourage the expression of our true selves. It is an incredible way to process our lives. Often, people can express themselves more accurately through art than with verbal communication, and she utilizes that concept in her work with clients. She has experience with clients aged 13-103 and specializes in anxiety and depression, neurodivergence, self-esteem, grief, eco-anxiety, and despair.
