ATCB #: 08-128 – Board Certified Art Therapist

Rebecca Irmen is co-owner of ArtWell Therapy Center and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor as well as a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist. She entered the mental health field after earning her master’s degree from Mount Mary University in 2007. Rebecca believes art can be a powerful therapeutic tool—helping individuals express thoughts and emotions that may be difficult to verbalize while making sense of worries, sadness, struggles, goals, and dreams.

Rebecca began her career volunteering as an art therapist at a juvenile complex center before working extensively in therapeutic school settings. She served as an art therapist at New Connections Academy, supporting children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum, and at South Campus, working with students experiencing emotional and behavioral disorders.

She later transitioned into private practice, where she provided individual therapy and led a Saturday morning expressive therapy group focused on social skill development and fostering positive peer relationships. Rebecca then co-founded ArtWell Therapy Center, where she uses expressive arts approaches to support individuals across the lifespan—from children to seniors.

Throughout her years in special education and private practice, Rebecca has:

  • Provided individual counseling and art therapy services
  • Facilitated numerous art therapy groups for children and adolescents
  • Created public murals with students and clients to promote community connectedness
  • Hosted parent support groups to introduce and integrate expressive therapy practices at home

Rebecca has experience working with individuals facing Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Mood Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Depression, and grief and loss.

Her therapeutic approach integrates art-making with Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients shift unhelpful thought patterns, regulate emotions, and improve behaviors. She supports clients in understanding their motivations, building problem-solving skills, and developing greater confidence in their abilities.

Rebecca is committed to providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can identify their strengths and lead their own growth through a client-centered, art-based approach.
