Celebrate Pride Month by exploring its history, significance, and the power of creative self-expression. Pride Month occurs every June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising (https://stonewallforever.org/) and recognize the impact of LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide. Learn about the fight for equality and find uplifting ways to honor your unique identity. Through education and art, we celebrate authenticity, resilience, and love.

For parents looking to validate or all who are looking for ways to support your LGBTQ loved one, please check out Niko Aguilar’s group on LGBTQIA+ presentations. These are helpful for parents or loved ones of queer youth who want to support but do not know where to start.

🖌️ Pride-Themed Art Therapy Ideas

Art therapy offers a powerful, non-verbal outlet to process emotions, build self-esteem, and connect with your inner self. Here are three therapeutic activities designed for Pride Month

  • Identity Flags: Paint a personalized pride flag using colors that represent your unique personality traits, values, and personal history.
  • Affirmation Collages: Cut out words and images from magazines to create a visual board of self-love and strength.
  • Inside/Outside Masks: Decorate the outside of a paper mask to show how you present to the world, and the inside to reflect your private thoughts.
