Christina Mihalopoulos, MAATC

Christina Mihalopoulos, M.A. (she/her), is an Art Therapist who believes that meaningful healing begins with feeling accepted not only by others, but by ourselves. She strives to create a therapeutic space where clients can slow down, explore their experiences with curiosity, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that may have been overlooked, hidden, or forgotten.

Christina earned her Master of Arts in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University. During her internship at Institute for Therapy through the Arts, Christina gained experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults across a variety of settings, including inpatient behavioral health, assisted living communities, schools, as well as outpatient care. She has supported individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, identity development, grief, eco-anxiety, and life transitions. As a first-generation immigrant, Christina values working with clients from multicultural backgrounds and is especially passionate about supporting those experiencing immigration, cultural adjustment, and questions of identity and belonging.

Her work is rooted in Person-Centered and strengths-based therapy, with the belief that every individual already possesses resilience, creativity, and the capacity for growth. As both an Art Therapist and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), Christina enjoys incorporating mindfulness, breathwork, body awareness, and creative expression into therapy when they align with each client’s goals. She draws from art therapy, Adlerian theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic interventions, and holistic approaches while recognizing that healing looks different for every person.

Christina believes creativity belongs to everyone. Whether through art-making, conversation, or quiet reflection, she hopes clients leave sessions feeling more connected to themselves, more accepting of their experiences, and better equipped to move through life with intention and self-compassion.

Outside of the therapy room, Christina enjoys painting, trying new crafts, hiking, caring for plants, and exploring Chicago one ramen shop at a time. She is fluent in English and Greek.
